ResQ | Ballpoint | Pump Organ Walnut | Streamline | Blue Titanium

$80.00

Are you wanting to have a new writing instrument with some century old wood? This pen was created using walnut that, in a previous life, was a pump organ. I know this, because it endured periods of time of me hammering out very poor renditions of Mary had a Little Lamb and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Unfortunately the organ was in need of major cost prohibitive repairs, but rather than discarding it, it has been given a new purpose, thankfully I make pens better than I play Twinkle Twinkle. The organ was dated between 1921 and 1924 and given the age and condition of the wood, it had to be given a new life. The hardware selected for this pen has a Blue Titanium finish and has both the heartwood and the sapwood in this pen. A protective case made from reclaimed and re-purposed leather is included to complement your new pen. Walnut is synonymous with intellect and mental aptitude – even the nuts resemble the brain!

** The ink is easily replaceable with a standard cross style refill.

I make all Driftwood Pens with distinction in Coquitlam BC, Canada. Each Original Driftwood, RES’Q, Kaleidoscope and Fusion pen is made using material that has been foraged or comes from reclaimed items, the resin is coloured and poured in-house and the pens are hand turned by me. I take the time to select, mill, cut, turn, sand, finish, choose the hardware for each pen and hand make the protective leather sleeves made from reclaimed material with deliberate intention. Each pen is handmade which makes each one unique. I celebrate the natural flaws, the knots, the discolouration and though I have the ability to remake certain styles, no pen is exactly the same – which means no claims of, “I think that is mine”.
