ResQ | Ballpoint | Commodore Ballroom 2 | Streamline | Antique Brass

$80.00

This limited edition pen was created using fir that was salvaged from Vancouver’s iconic Commodore Ballroom in 2018.  Since opening on December 3rd 1930, The Commodore Ballroom has been the backdrop to great performers like Dal Richards, Sammy Davis Jr., the Stones, the Hip, KISS and U2. I don’t know if Bono or Mick stood on the spot of the floor your pen is made from but I do know that the story you tell is more interesting if they did. Fir was used for the subfloors because it was plentiful and because of its strength but it is interesting that fir symbolizes power of determination and perseverance, both are excellent traits to be a musician with staying power. A protective case made from reclaimed and re-purposed leather is included to complement your new pen.

** The ink is easily replaceable with a standard cross style refill.

I make all Driftwood Pens with distinction in Coquitlam BC, Canada. Each Original Driftwood, RES’Q, Kaleidoscope and Fusion pen is made using material that has been foraged or comes from reclaimed items, the resin is coloured and poured in-house and the pens are hand turned by me. I take the time to select, mill, cut, turn, sand, finish, choose the hardware for each pen and hand make the protective leather sleeves made from reclaimed material with deliberate intention. Each pen is handmade which makes each one unique. I celebrate the natural flaws, the knots, the discolouration and though I have the ability to remake certain styles, no pen is exactly the same – which means no claims of, “I think that is mine”.
